This is a very personal story… Adopted as a kitten with a smorgasboard of health issues including an abcess, cat flu and some serious bladder issues Mr Skittles has one more hurdle to cross…

This much loved cat called 'Mr Skittles' started life as a stray kitten until ARH vet nurse Liz Puglisi decided to adopt him about 12 years ago.

Now, his right rear leg hurts. It hurts a lot and x-rays plus other tests reveal a form of bone cancer. Mr Skittles was referred by Liz's own vet to the team at Animal Referral Hospital (where coincidentally she also works) and they discuss the options – including euthanasia - it’s a tough call for Liz – after all Mr Skittles is her baby...

In this Family Friendly version of Mr Skittle's story the whole procedure with specialist surgeon Dr David Simpson took around 90 minutes.

We've condensed this to about 4 minutes and while you won't see any of the actual amputation procedure (only available if registered as a Vet-Pro), we know you'll be moved by the love and care of not only vet nurse Liz, but also the ARH team - PLUS... you'll get to see the amazing Mr Skittles post-op!
